Watch "Grandview" Lyric Video

Ahead of the release of his new album, Sad Clowns and Hillbillies, John Mellencamp is exclusively debuting the lyric video for his latest single, “Grandview,” on PARADE.com. “It’s about having a dream and staying connected to your dream, no matter how big or how small,” Mellencamp tells PARADE. “It’s your dream and your responsibility to make the dream come true.” Featuring country star Martina McBride, the song is the second single from the Rock and Roll Hall of Famer’s upcoming album, which features another country legend, Carlene Carter, the daughter of June Carter Cash and stepdaughter of Johnny Cash.

The black-and-white video showcases Mellencamp’s slick delivery with McBride’s powerhouse vocals — both dripping in heartland coolness. “Just an old country boy, wearing my Osh-Kosh boots / Walked by the trailer factory, every day on my way to school / Early on in life the only thing I wanted to do / Was to buy me a trailer and move it down to Grandview,” Mellencamp sings in the opening verse.

Sad Clowns & Hillbillies is due out April 28 and is available for pre-order.
