My Sweet Love Video Gets CMT Nomination

John's "My Sweet Love" video clip has been nominated in the Wide Open Country Video of the Year category in the first round of nominees for the 2009 CMT Music Awards.

The clip, which also features Little Big Town's Karen Fairchild, is up against "Backyard" (Kevin Costner & Modern West), "Nine Lives" (Def Leppard and Tim McGraw), "Photograph" (Def Leppard and Taylor Swift), "All Summer Long" (Kid Rock), "Please Read the Letter" (Robert Plant and Alison Krauss), "Old Enough" (The Raconteurs featuring Ricky Skaggs and Ashley Monroe) and "Bartender Song" (Rehab featuring Hank Williams, Jr.).

The CMT Music Awards are country music's only fan-voted awards show. To vote, fans must register with CMT.com. Fans can only vote once per user name/email address.

The first round of voting runs through May 11, with fans being able to select four choices from the top eight nominees in each of the 10 categories. The final four nominees in each category will be announced May 19th on CMT. The eighth annual show premieres live from Nashville on June 17 at 8 p.m. ET.

The Wide Open Country category that John and Karen are nominated in results from the "My Sweet Love" video's visibility on CMT's "Wide Open Country," a show featuring music from a vast array of alt-country, bluegrass, and Americana artists along with performers from the heart of country music.

Little Big Town's "Fine Line" video was nominated in the Group Video of the Year category. The band, of course, sang backing vocals on John's "Freedom's Road" album (including single, "Our Country") and opened for him on his 2006 spring tour.
