“I haven’t written that song yet, though there are some that come pretty close to the standard that I set for myself,” he said.

03/25/2011 - It has been announced that John Mellencamp's concert performance originally set for April 15 at Edmonton's Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium has been moved to April 17. The delay, caused by a scheduling conflict, does not affect the April 16th tour date, also at Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium.

Tickets purchased for the originally scheduled April 15 concert will be honored on the 17th. Those holding tickets who are unable to attend the rescheduled performance may apply for a refund at point of purchase prior to April 1st and we apologize for any inconvenience caused by the rescheduling.

The roster of names includes world leaders, including Bill Clinton, Mikhail Gorbachev, and Lech Walesa; entertainers, including Larry David, Alec Baldwin Paul Newman, Meryl Streep and; musicians, including Paul McCartney, Rosanne Cash, Tony Bennett, and Billy Joel; writers, including T.S. Elliot, Allen Ginsburg, Tom Stoppard and Norman Mailer; scientists, including Eric Kandel, Roslyn Yarrow and James Watson; and business leaders, including Steve Ballmer, Meg Whitman and Jack Welch. On Monday, March 28th, John Mellencamp's name will be added to that distinguished roster of 92nd Street Y speakers as he discusses his life and varied career in music that has spanned more than 35 years. The moderator for the evening will be Rolling Stone Magazine's senior editor David Fricke. Fricke was the writer of John's 1986 Rolling Stone cover story and was also present for the Memphis No Better Than This sessions.

03/16/2011 - In an interview with Kevin Cassidy from The Hollywood Reporter, It's About You documentary director Kurt Markus discusses the circumstance and process that allowed the creation of the film. Here are some excepts, the complete piece is available after the jump: It was an offer a purist like Markus couldn’t refuse. Throwing caution to the wind, he enlisted his film student son Ian to handle sound duties and set out on the road with Mellencamp to learn documentary filmmaking on the fly. The result is It’s About You, an intimate, moody music doc that premiered March 12 at South by Southwest as an American Documentary Showcase selection... later in the piece Kurt says "I tried to provide a context to really listen to John’s music. In that sense I’m the background and John is the heart and soul of it with his music..."
