09/22/2010 - Today is the 25th Anniversary of the first Farm Aid. In celebration of the date Farm Aid president Carolyn Mugar wrote the following op-ed piece for the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

On Sept. 22, 1985, Willie Nelson, Neil Young and John Mellencamp came together to host the first Farm Aid concert in front of 78,000 farmers, fans and activists. They thought the event in Champaign, Ill., would be the first and only Farm Aid concert - that the overwhelming public outcry would spur public officials to act immediately to right the obvious inequities that were forcing thousands of farm families off their land and out of their homes.

09/22/2010 - On September 22, 1985, Willie Nelson, John Mellencamp and Neil Young organized the first Farm Aid concert to help family farmers stay on their land. Twenty-five years later, with the added support of Dave Matthews, who joined the Farm Aid board of directors in 2001, Farm Aid leaders say the organization is going strong.

09/17/2010 - Farm Aid has announced their October 2nd concert will air live in HD on DirecTV's 101 Network! Farm Aid board members Willie Nelson, Neil Young, John Mellencamp and Dave Matthews will headline the event, to be hosted by award-winning broadcaster Tavis Smiley, at Miller Park in Milwaukee, WI. Recently announced acts including Kenny Chesney, Norah Jones, Jason Mraz, Jeff Tweedy, Band of Horses, The BoDeans, Amos Lee, Robert Francis, Lukas Nelson and The Promise of the Real, The Blackwood Quartet and Randy Rogers Band will join the lineup. 08/23/2010 - On Monday, August 16th, during his interview on PBS' "Tavis Smiley" show, John, half joking and half assigning, told Tavis that he was the host of the October 2nd Farm Aid concert in Milwaukee. Tavis laughed after being put on the spot, but today it was announced that Tavis has accepted! Read More

03/16/2010 - SOMERVILLE, Mass. “Farm Aid 25: Growing Hope for America” is the theme of the quarter-century anniversary of Farm Aid, the nonprofit organization led by board members Willie Nelson, Neil Young, John Mellencamp and Dave Matthews. Farm Aid’s mission is to keep family farmers on the land and to create a family farm-centered food system in America.

Farm Aid representatives say planning for the 25th anniversary concert and the events leading up to it is in the works. Concert events will celebrate the contribution the organization has made to supporting family farmers and showcase the positive, sustainable future that family farmers are growing through their hard work every day. 01/16/2010 - John will appear in DIRECTV’s first in a series of four one-hour “Farm Aid Presents” specials taped at Farm Aid 2009, to air on The 101 Network on DIRECTV over the next few months.

“Farm Aid Presents Jason Mraz & Friends” premieres on Monday, Jan. 18, at 9 p.m. Eastern Time and Pacific. It features performances by John and fellow Farm Aid board member Willie Nelson, as well as the full Farm Aid set from Mraz and songs by Will Dailey. It airs in both high definition and surround sound.

The Mraz special will be repeated throughout the rest of January and Feburary.
DIRECTV originally aired Farm Aid 2009 live from the Verizon Wireless Amphitheater in Maryland Heights, Mo., just outside of St. Louis. Ambassador Entertainment Inc. produced the live presentation and the “Farm Aid Presents” specials.
